In Part 1 of the test, there is a photograph included in the test book.
You will listen to four statements which will be played only one time.
Select the statement that best matches the photo. Each question will be timed for five seconds.


Analyzing the photo

Describe the scene for yourself, but try to differentiate between key ideas, and details. Look at what seems to be happening and what people are doing. You may want to use: "there is", "there are", or the present continuous, in your descriptions.

Distinguising Similar Sounds


In this part of the test, you may have to choose among statements that contain similar-sounding words. To distinguish such words, listen carefully for differences in sounds. Then, think about which word will make sense in the sentence.

Making Inferences

An inference is an opinion that you form about something based on the information you already have. To make an inference about the future, listen for the future tense of the verb. This will tell you which action we can infer will happen in the future.
