Self-paced

Done or designed to be accomplished at the student's own speed.


Sentence

The largest independent unit of grammar: it begins with a capital letter and ends with a period, question mark, or exclamation point.


Singular

The simplest form of a noun (the form that appears in a dictionary): a category of number denoting one person, thing, or instance.


Stand out

To be noticeable, distinctive, or prominent in a way that attracts attention or is easily distinguished from the surrounding environment or others in a similar category. 

When something or someone stands out, it is often considered remarkable, exceptional, or outstanding in comparison to others.


Statement

A written or spoken announcement on an important subject that someone makes in public.


Subject

It is the part of a sentence or clause that commonly indicates (a) what it is about, or (b) who or what performs the action.


Suffix

A letter or group of letters added to the end of a word or stem, serving to form a new word or functioning as an inflectional ending.


Superlative

The form of an adjective that suggests the most or the least of something.


Synonym

A word that has the same meaning as another word in the same language.
